Welcome to Values Into Action Scotland
People with learning difficulties have the same rights as other people…
.. but they don’t always get them.
Research has shown people with learning difficulties are:
- More likely to have been a victim of violent crime or harassment
- More likely to have their choices and rights denied
- Less likely to have a job or a home of their own
- Less likely to live the life of their choosing
VIA Scotland exists to challenge this and to work with people with learning
difficulties to achieve equality.
Things still need to change!
- VIA Scotland promotes the rights and equality of people with learning difficulties
- VIA Scotland provides government, the media and others with up-to-the-minute
responses to issues affecting people with learning difficulties
- VIA Scotland works to ensure that the lives and concerns of people with learning
difficulties are reflected in legislation, policy & practice
- VIA Scotland does not provide care services, but we work to change services
- VIA Scotland is a membership organisation, with a network of members and supporters
